Jann Layton

Behavioral Health Administrator

Jann joined the Deaf Connections program in January ‘21. She was born Deaf to hearing parents in Nebraska where she attended a private oral school for the Deaf at 2 years of age.  It was there where she learned to be proficient in lip reading.  Later she attended a public school where she graduated.  It was not until college, Jann learned ASL by interacting with the Deaf community.  By 2011, Jann moved to Arkansas and has established her life here.  Jann has 15 years of experience as a Graphic Artist and 10 years of experience working with Deaf children from Pre-K to 8th grade at a School for the Deaf as a paraprofessional. Jann has learned so much from Deaf students as they taught her who she is now and that is what led her journey to Deaf Connections.  Jann is married, has two stepsons and two dogs. Jann enjoys being outdoors hiking, camping off-roading in a Jeep and she loves going to Dave Matthews Band concerts.
